Cardiac transplantation: update on a road less traveled
See All
Organ transplantation is an established, lifesaving option for patients with end-stage organ diseases. Current standards for post-transplant rejection surveillance in transplant recipients are improving. Data continue to emerge on noninvasive posttransplant rejection monitoring modalities. Commercially available noninvasive blood tests can assess graft rejection using serial gene expression. The results provide insights into cellular function and confer information regarding immune status of the allograft. The goal of these new surveillance techniques is to improve outcomes among patients undergoing organ transplants.
