Chronic Osteoarthritis Pain: Approaching an Era of Targeted Therapeutics

About This Series

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive disease that inevitably worsens with time. OA-related pain substantially impairs patients’ quality of life. OA management primarily focuses on symptomatic relief through the use of nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic interventions. However, these interventions often fall short of providing pain relief. Research into the pathophysiology of pain has led to the development of novel targeted therapies for use in patients with knee OA.
