A 75-year-old man with a long history of lower extremity peripheral artery disease (PAD) was admitted to hospital after presenting
with acute lower left leg pain. His ankle-brachial index on that leg was 0.6. On angiography, severe stenosis of the popliteal
artery was noted. He underwent urgent revascularization to salvage the limb. His medical history was also significant for
coronary artery disease (CAD), with a prior myocardial infarction (MI), hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia; body weight
was within normal range.
