Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for physicians who manage the many manifestations of patients with Wilson disease, including gastroenterologists/hepatologists, neurologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, ophthalmologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to improve disease-state awareness of clinical signs and symptoms and red-flag findings indicative of Wilson disease to raise the index of clinical suspicion and improve timely diagnosis and initiation of treatment. As well, the goal of this initiative is to educate clinicians on applying novel treatments for Wilson disease in an evidence-based manner.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Unmet needs in the management of Wilson disease
    • Latest clinical evidence for the use of novel trientine salts for the treatment of Wilson disease
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Identify patients who would benefit from newer Wilson disease treatment strategies based on the latest clinical evidence
