Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for dentists/oral health professionals, pediatricians, obstetricians & gynecologists, primary care physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners.  

The goal of this activity is to ensure that dental and medical providers are up to date on the latest recommendations for human papillomavirus (HPV) prevention and provide insights to learners on how to discuss HPV prevention with patients.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Burden of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers
    • Current recommendations for HPV prevention
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Incorporating guideline-recommended HPV vaccine recommendations during dental visits
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Discuss oropharyngeal cancer screening and HPV prevention with patients
