This activity is intended for diabetologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians, primary care physicians, and others involved in screening, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of patients with T1D.
The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to improve their ability to identify those at high-risk of developing T1D and educate these patients and caregivers about the stages of T1D, including currently available interventions.

Editor’s Note: On June 25, 2023, during the 83rd Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), updates to the ADA’s Standards of Care in Diabetes – 2023, were announced and published online, endorsing the use of teplizumab for delaying the onset of type 1 diabetes in individuals older than 8 years old with stage 2 type 1 diabetes. In addition, the importance of screening programs for detection of autoantibodies as well as the potential harmful effect of delayed screening were also stressed.
