Target Audience and Goal Statement

This educational activity is intended for an audience of primary care physicians and diabetologists/endocrinologists.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to implement weight loss strategies as a central goal of type 2 diabetes (T2D) management.

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the need for early tight glycemic control in patients with T2D

  • Recognize the central role of weight loss in the management of T2D

  • Apply recent evidence-based guidelines regarding weight management as a focus of treatment in comprehensive care for T2D

  • Select appropriate therapies for glycemic control in patients with T2D and overweight in accordance with recent guidelines
