Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for neurologists and neurology care team, oncologists and oncology care team, primary care physicians (PCPs), and other clinicians who treat patients with paraneoplastic syndromes.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to have greater awareness of symptoms of Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS), the relationship between LEMS and small cell lung cancer (SCLC), and how neurologists and oncologists can collaborate for appropriate care.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Symptoms of LEMS
    • Appropriate tools to assess and diagnose patients with LEMS
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Diagnosing LEMS
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Screen for SCLC in patients diagnosed with LEMS
