Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for ophthalmologists (primary audience), diabetologists/endocrinologists, and optometrists.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to describe nuances of disease development and progression in Hispanic and Latino patients so that they can more effectively address the health crisis that this population continues to face.

At the conclusion of this program learners will be better able to:

  • Describe the unmet need for improved diabetic eye care in the Latino/Hispanic community
  • Outline the screening guidelines for diabetic eye disease
  • Weigh the benefits of timely treatment for patients with diabetic eye disease
  • Develop and communicate strategies that help support Latino/Hispanic patients with diabetic eye disease
