Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for oncologists (including pediatric oncologists), neurologists, pediatricians, surgeons, and other healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with NF1.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to manage patients with NF1-associated tumors as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Clinical manifestations of NF1-associated tumors
    • Clinical trial data evaluating the use of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase (MEK) inhibitors for the treatment of NF1-associated tumors 
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Selecting appropriate, evidence-based therapy for patients with NF1-associated tumors
    • Mitigating potential adverse events associated with therapies for NF1-associated tumors
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Effectively coordinate transitions of care with members of the multidisciplinary team
