Target Audience and Goal Statement

This educational activity is intended for critical care specialists, pulmonologists, ID/HIV specialists and pharmacists in Canada.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to improve antibiotic stewardship in the hospital setting.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Role of antibiotic stewardship in preventing antibiotic resistance
    • Available data concerning health economic considerations in antibiotic stewardship strategies
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Antibiotic therapy decisions that minimize risk of antibiotic resistance
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Implement risk identification strategies for detection of multidrug resistant infections
