Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for primary care physicians (PCPs), psychiatrists, nurses, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners [NPs], physician associates/physician assistants [PAs]) in the primary care sphere and in psychiatry, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with MDD.

The goal of this activity is that learners will be better able to recognize and assess functional impairments and residual symptoms in patients with MDD, be cognizant of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of patients when personalizing care, and incorporate patient goals into MDD treatment decisions.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have greater competence related to
    • Assessing functional impairments in patients with MDD
    • Assessing social determinants of health (SDoH) in patients with MDD
    • Adjusting treatments for patients with MDD with the goal of treating patients to remission
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Incorporate interprofessional strategies into patient care
