Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for an international audience of non-US neurologists.

The goal of this activity is that learners will be better able to evaluate and manage adult patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Natural history of SMA in adult patients
    • Mechanisms of action of currently approved therapies for SMA
    • Clinical evidence for current disease-modifying treatments for SMA in adult patients
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Appropriate evaluation of treatment outcomes in adult patients with SMA
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Select the right treatment and regimen for the individual patient with SMA
