Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, primary care physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.

The goal of this activity is that the learner will be better able to examine the evidence supporting aggressive lipid management with proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and communicate with patient about treatment adherence after hospital discharge to reduce the risk of recurrent cardiovascular (CV) events.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Clinical trial data supporting the use of PCSK9 inhibitors in patients after an ACS
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Providing patient education related to the need for intensive lipid lowering after being discharged from the hospital following an ACS
