Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for hematology and oncology nurses and nurse practitioners.

The goal of this activity is to improve nurses' knowledge of barriers to optimal care for African American patients with multiple myeloma (MM) and their ability to educate and advocate for their patients.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Barriers to optimal care of African American patients with MM
    • Impact of disparities in health care on the survival of African American patients with MM
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Applying best practices to overcome barriers to optimal care of African American patients with MM
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Advocate for African American patients with MM
