Target Audience and Goal Statement

This educational activity is intended for an international audience of non-US healthcare professionals, specifically oncologists, anesthesiologists, pain management specialists, palliative care specialists, oncology nurses, and any other healthcare specialists involved in the care of patients with cancer pain.

The goal of this activity is to use common case scenarios to demonstrate the optimal and responsible implementation of opioid analgesia in the management of the patient with cancer pain.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • The impact of cancer pain on patient outcomes
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Developing and implementing a pain management plan for the individual patient
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Apply opioids optimally and responsibly in practice
