Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians (PCPs), pain specialists, nurses, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), and others who diagnose and treat patients with opioid-induced constipation (OIC).

The goal of this activity is to improve clinicians’ knowledge and competence regarding the diagnosis and management of OIC, including team-based care, to improve patient outcomes.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Team-based roles in counseling patients regarding risk for OIC
    • Evidence-based treatment options for OIC
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Tailoring treatments according to presentation of OIC
