Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, ID/HIV specialists, primary care physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and all clinicians interested in managing lipids in patients living with HIV.

The goal of this activity is to improve low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lowering in persons living with HIV.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Ongoing trials examining statin use in patients with HIV 
    • Challenges regarding treatment selection in patients with HIV
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Working as a care team to choose the most appropriate statin therapy for a given patient
