Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for primary care physicians, cardiologists, and neurologists.

The goal of this activity is to inform physicians about resources that can help them assess driving safety in older adults, particularly use of occupational therapist (OT) services, and to understand how OTs and other providers assess driving risk and provide solutions to driving-related challenges.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding
    • The factors involved in decisions and justification to refer an older adult to an OT or driving-rehabilitation professional
    • How the approach to assessing older-driver safety may differ between an OT and a driver-rehabilitation professional
