Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, emergency department physicians, internal medicine specialists, and all clinicians interested in the association between coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and cardiac symptoms.

The goal of this activity is to improve understanding of the role of high-sensitivity troponin (hs-Tn) in identifying myocardial injury in patients with COVID-19 and strategies to integrate hs-Tn in evaluation of COVID-19 patients to optimize care and outcomes.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding
    • The burden of myocardial injury in COVID-19 patients 
    • The role of hs-Tn troponin in identifying myocardial injury in COVID-19 patients
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Strategies to integrate hs-Tn in evaluation of COVID-19 patients to optimize management and outcomes
