Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, primary care physicians, diabetologists and endocrinologists, nurses, and pharmacists.

The goal of this activity is to inform clinicians regarding clinical data that support statin use in geriatric patients, as well as to discuss effective lipid-lowering strategies for challenging patients to improve lipid management.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Statin selection in the geriatric population
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Use of effective lipid-lowering strategies in complex patients to improve lipid management 
    • Outline implications for the healthcare team related to strategies to reduce cardiovascular risk in older adults
