Target Audience and Goal Statement

This educational activity is intended for an international audience of non-US cardiologists, hematology-oncology specialists, and primary care physicians involved in the prevention of VTE in patients with acute medical illness or cancer.

To increase clinicians’ knowledge of current guidelines and clinical trial data related to prevention of VTE in patients with acute medical illness or cancer.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Guideline-recommended therapy and trial data in prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in acutely ill medical patients
    • Guideline-recommended therapy and trial data in prevention of VTE in patients with cancer
  • Have increased confidence regarding the selection of antithrombotic therapy to prevent VTE in acutely ill medical patients and patients with cancer
