Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, emergency medicine physicians, critical care specialists, and nurses.

The goal of this activity is to improve knowledge regarding clinical trial methodology and data supporting the use of wearable cardioverter-defibrillator (WCD), and the use of effective healthcare provider (HCP)-patient communication strategies to improve prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Clinical trial methodology, including the differences between "as treated" vs "intent-to-treat" analyses
    • Clinical data supporting the use of WCD, including randomized clinical trials and real-world evidence
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Use of effective HCP-patient communication strategies to improve SCD prevention
