Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for cardiologists, diabetologists and endocrinologists, primary care physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists.

The goal of this activity is to inform clinicians about the effects of statins on hepatic fat and glucose metabolism and to minimize the effect on insulin sensitivity in the treatment of complex patients with dyslipidemia.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Effect of statins on hepatic fat and insulin sensitivity
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Treatment of complex patients with dyslipidemia to minimize the effect on insulin sensitivity
