Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for infectious disease/HIV specialists, primary care physicians, and critical care specialists.

The goal of this activity is to inform clinicians of antibiotic stewardship and how to identify and treat patients at greatest risk for infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Ongoing challenge of serious bacterial infections and emerging resistance
  • Have greater competence related to
    • The recognition of patient populations at increased risk for morbidity and mortality from serious bacterial infections
    • Strategies to address the unique needs of special populations at increased risk for morbidity and mortality
    • Timely and appropriate incorporation of agents that individualize patient care needs and support antibiotic stewardship
