Target Audience and Goal Statement

This educational activity is intended for an international audience of cardiologists, primary care physicians, and hematology/oncology specialists.

The goal of this activity is to have increased knowledge regarding the burden of thrombosis and current strategies to assess risk and prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE) in the hospital setting, as well as have greater competence in collaborative care approaches to improve outcomes for patients at risk for VTE.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will have:

  • Increased knowledge regarding the
    • Health and economic burden of thrombosis in the hospital setting
    • Current management strategies to assess VTE risk and prevent VTE in hospitalized patients
  • Greater competence related to the use of collaborative care approaches to improve outcomes for patients at risk for VTE
