Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for physicians who specialize in infectious diseases, critical care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, pulmonology, and pediatrics.

The goal of this activity is to explain the syndromic approach and how it can be applied to the diagnosis of respiratory infection.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Summarize how antibiotic stewardship and a syndromic approach to the diagnosis of infection have the potential to benefit patients and healthcare systems
  2. Identify the potential role of newer methods for rapid diagnostic testing for respiratory infections
