Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for primary care physicians, urologists, and oncologists.

The goal of this activity is for clinicians to be able to develop an individualized treatment plan for lower urinary tract symptoms resulting from an enlarging and obstructive prostate.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Describe the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia -- including nocturia, urge incontinence, and voiding frequency patterns -- and make an accurate diagnosis
Develop a simple and practical approach to evaluating the patient and developing an individualized treatment plan for lower urinary tract symptoms resulting from an enlarging and obstructive prostate
Tailor appropriate therapy, comparing and contrasting therapeutic options that span different medication classes
