Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for oncology nurses and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

The goal of this activity is to discuss the optimal approaches to treating patients with CML, including strategies for choosing treatment, monitoring responses, and optimizing adherence.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Outline recommended treatment approaches for patients with newly diagnosed, relapsed/refractory, or resistant CML
Describe the nurse’s role in monitoring for disease response and relapse
Apply the most current nursing interventions for optimizing adherence to oral therapies, for mitigating common side effects of treatment, and for discussing these approaches with patients to improve adherence and address side effects
