Introduction

There are many factors involved in the management of pain. These include evaluating the risks of benefits of opioid therapy, assessing the different types of pain, development of a safe and effective treatment plan, educating patients and caregivers, and understanding opioid use disorder. These activities summarize the key steps in safely and effectively assessing and treating patients with pain.
