BRCA1 and BRCA2 May Require Different Ovarian Cancer TreatmentsCMEBoth BRCA1 and BRCA2 germ-line mutations are associated with early-stage ovarian cancer, but each mutation might require different types of treatment, according to new observational data.
Ovarian cancer is the second most common cancer of the female reproductive system in the United States and is the leading cause of death from a gynecologic cancer. Diagnosing ovarian cancer is difficult; currently available screening tests offer limited accuracy, challenging researchers to identify and develop more sensitive screening methods. The poor prognosis of ovarian cancer also challenges clinicians to stay on top of new data and other advances in the field to improve patient care and disease management.
