About Bipolar Disorder

  • Bipolar disorder is an affective disorder marked by severe mood swings that range from manic depression to major depressive episodes. The complexities and subtle variations of presentation of bipolar symptoms make bipolar disorder difficult to diagnose and manage. The challenge is to identify the most appropriate bipolar treatment strategy for a particular patient. Treatment of this mood disorder is often complicated by comorbid conditions, such as substance abuse, ADHD, and medication noncompliance.
