Elizabeth Samander, PhD

Elizabeth received bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, completing both programs with a major in biology. Elizabeth also received a master of science degree with a focus in genetics from the University of Connecticut, where she successfully completed thesis research. She earned her PhD in biomedical science with a concentration in genetics and developmental biology from the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, where her work involved identifying novel tumor-suppressor genes implicated in endocrine neoplasia. After completing her PhD, Elizabeth led Apical Research Team's oncology research practice. In addition to her work as a consultant, she was an adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University, where she instructed numerous lecture and laboratory courses in zoology, general biology, botany, microbiology, and biotechnology. Just prior to joining Medscape, Elizabeth was scientific director at International Meetings & Science, Inc., where she developed and managed scientific content in various therapeutic areas.
